In honor of the Orticola show and market (5, 6 & 7 May 2017), the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum again features in the “Beyond Orticola” program with special visits, themes to follow in the museum and positive collaborative efforts. New to the 2017 edition is the collaboration with Fiorito, the only Italian flower shop franchising, which chose to be with the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum by donating plants and flowers. These real living things placed near their representations in art and decorative arts create a close dialogue between art and the plant world. Special guided visits (6-7 May) and labels, all in Italian, are scheduled.
Plants also feature on the new objects created for the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum by Borseggi, the rehabilitation program through sewing at Milano-Opera’s prison for men learning a trade to earn a better future. ‘Flowery Notes’ (Pizzini Fioriti) is the name of this new “capsule” collection of shopping bags and handbags realized with the fabric of Colefax & Fowler. The new series ironically takes inspiration from botanical illustrations bearing notes, like the notes on little pieces of paper used by criminals. In this way, a new sense of hope through work and culture is transmitted. Every shopping bag and hand bag purchased at the museum’s shop will contain its very own little note with stories from prison.
