More than 70 works by Giacometti are displayed in Verona, from the most renowned sculptures to drawings and paintings, from the days of his youth in Switzerland with the first marvelous drawings at the age of little more than ten to the inaugural sculptures done at age 15 up to his surrealistic experiments and the works of his mature period.
Rendering the exhibit even more unique and precious – and just like the works of Giacometti, coming from the Fondazione Maeght – are works of Braque, Chagall, Miró, Kandinsky, Derain, and Léger, artists working in the decades from the 20s to the 50s, that is, the time of Giacometti’s long stay in Paris. Paintings, often quite large, enrich with pure beauty the rooms in which the sculptures of Giacometti seem to walk with lightness and grace.
In the afternoon, a visit of the city, itself.
