Displayed in ten rooms, this exhibition unwinds chronologically, introducing visitors to the universe of Filippo de Pisis (Ferrara, 1896 – Milan, 1956), from his debut in 1916 and his encounter with the Metaphysical painting of de Chirico to the beginning of the 1950s and the dramatic period of his recovery in a psychiatric clinic.
A versatile painter, an untiring traveller and poet, de Pisis navigates the “Novecento” of different countries and pictorial movements without ever belonging solely to any one of them. His continuous trips from Milan to Rome, Venice, Paris and London and back, again, contributed to enriching that international vision that rendered his approach completely unique, inspiring expressive research and shaping his painting.
