Futurdome is a project of museum/housing unique in Italy. It was born of the rennovation of a historic mansion in the “Liberty” style – as Milanese call their city’s own particular kind of Art Nouveau. The mansion had been used for meeting at the end of the 1940s by the last Futurists, and today has become a private condominium with ample space dedicated to contemporary art and a packed cultural program involving both the comunal spaces and the private apartments.
In spring, a new exhibit called The Uncanny Valley will be inaugurated. In this collective exhibit, the artists reflect on the concept of the disconcerting and enchantment, as they were defined by Sigmund Freud in his work dedicated to them. The exhibit intends to explore the relationship between that which is known and that which is unknown and the resulting sense of displacement and exclusion, referring in particular to the history of Alto Adige, annexed to Italy one hundred years ago.
After the visit, we will enjoy an aperitif with music at the FuturDome Temporary Cafè by IUTA.
