To understand Kandinsky’s artistic development up until 1921, to even “enter” into his paintings, thanks to special multimedia experiences, this is the fascinating voyage that awaits visitors to “Kandinsky: The Wandering Knight. Travelling Towards Abstraction.”
The exhibit embraces the artist’s long formative period until he moved from Russia to Germany in 1921, never to return. It helps the viewer understand the origin and develpment of his code of symbols through a fascinating voyage among his sources of visual inspiration. The viewer is even able to “enter” into his paintings, just as he, himself, wanted: ‘for years I tried to have the spectators walk in my paintings; I wanted to make them forget themselves, to, in fact, disappear inside the images.’
