Leonardo da Vinci, a multi-talented and creative man, fully embodied the universalist spirit of his day. Painter, sculptor, engineer, anatomist, musician, and inventor, he was active in the most varied fields of art and science, and today is considered one of the most well known protagonists of culture, not only of the Renaissance, but of all times and places.
The exhibit – the most important monographic exhibit ever organized in Italy, represents a unique opportunity to admire and to understand in an over-arching way the extraordinary complexity of this universal genius.
Twelve sections will accompany the visitors in discovering the varied activities of this genius through the exploration of his original codices, more than 100 authentic drawings (about 30 of which are from the famous “Codice Atlantico” and “The Vitruvian Man”), and a significant number of words of art: drawings, manuscripts, sculptures, incunabula, and early books coming from the most prestigious museums and libraries in the world.
