The exhibit MIRABILIA. A Wunderkammer to discover the crafts of Milanese art opens at the Triennale in Milan.
The Bagatti Valsecchi Museum is happy to share the news of MIRABILIA opening at the Triennale because highlighting the traditional crafts of Milan and Italy, which were used to create the Renaissance and Neo-Renaissance objects of which its collections are formed, is an important part of its outreach for adults and for children.
The exhibit is part of an annual project of the Triennale of Milan and the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte to present a series of five exhibits in the art gallery of the Triennale. These exhibits propose a new point-of-view on contemporary applied arts.
The first project of the collaboration is MIRABILIA, which unites a series of extraordinary objects created by great Milanese craftsmen, heirs of Renaissance traditions whose work is also characterized by high production quality values.
About forty contemporary pieces representing “the secrets of the crafts” were chosen from crafts studios and workshops in the city of Milan. These pieces are one-of-a-kind or one in a very small series, and have deep artistic and cultural significance.
