Dialogue with 20th century European art. The creativity and entrepreneurship of a great Italian fashion house. The extraordinary culture and genius of the two founders. It is around these themes that the event of MA*GA (Museo arte Gallarate, county of Varese) is organized. Gallarate is precisely the city where Ottavio and Rosita Missoni chose to found the headquarters and first knitting production of their company in 1953.

In this year of EXPO, the successes and international recognition of the Missoni in textile production and fashion are among the most accredited witnesses of Made in Italy. They represent the value of a territory and express the capacity to generate languages and dialogues with the most significant masters of modern and contemporary art.

The exhibit – characterized by displays that become environmental works, themselves – is articulated according to various narrative registers that delineate the principal aspects of the Missoni’s genius: color, material, and form. At the same time, just how much their creativity is tied with a double thread to art emerges, and represents a nearly unique case in the panorama of international fashion.
