Museum by candlelight: two candlelight visits organized for March 1, 2019, the day dedicated to saving energy and to ecofriendly lifestyles. Italian piazzas, monuments (the Tower of Pisa, the Colosseum, the Arena in Verona), the important palaces that are symbols of Italy (the Quirinale, the Senate, the House of Representatives), and many private homes will turn off their lights.
Organized in 2005 in Italy by the two radio programs Caterpillar and Rai Radio2, the day is called “I illuminate myself with less,” a spoof on the 1917 poem “I illuminate myself with immensity” by one of Italy’s most famous poets, Ungaretti.
During the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum’s two candlelight and LED flashlight visits in Italian at 6:45 PM and 7:15 PM it will be possible to discover that which can be “seen,” yes, with less light, but also with more concentration.
The visits in Italian are free of charge and last about an hour.
