The New Voices 2020 cycle of presentations at the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum concludes with Marta Barbieri speaking on the fascinating story of Santa Maria di Caravaggio in Milan: Memories of a Lost Church. Presented by Giovanni Agosti – professor of Modern Art History at the State University of Milan – Ms Barbieri unfolds (in Italian) the history of this miraculous fresco, today housed in Santa Maria della Passione.
The tale begins with the building of this church near the Spanish Walls in today’s Corso Monforte in Milan at the end of th 17th century. For centuries the pride of the Order of Discalced Trinitarians, the church disappeared from the city’s memory.
