The Paul Klee exhibit at MUDEC presents the work of this great German artist in a wholly new light: the primitivism and ‘return to origins’ that characterized Europe at the beginning of the 20th century. In a world in which modernity seemed to become ever more looming, fast, mundane and even disquieting, the idea of returning to a primordial style of life, which could represent salvation for the soul and for human culture, made its way into European culture.
