Tea talks
Brave young men and beautiful murderesses. Tệtes coupées between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries
Tea talks
Tea Talks. Art Conversations at Casa Bagatti Valsecchi is the series of meetings meant to share art at tea time. Each appointment is dedicated to various themes that have spanned art history in connection with the museum's permanent collection and the current exhibition Lo sguardo del sentire.
The second event is dedicated to the iconography of the tệtes coupées between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries
Beheading expresses the purpose of stripping the adversary of his human nature, making him dissimilar to what he was before by highlighting, with the public display of the severed head, the diversity or dissimilarity that has arisen. The sacred texts offer numerous examples related to the iconography of the tête coupée, exemplary the cases of David slaying the giant Goliath by depriving the body of the head and that of John the Baptist taking off for the peace of Salome. The depiction of these two episodes will be investigated starting from the analysis of the works by Luca Ferrari shown in the exhibition Lo Sguardo del Sentire. Seventeenth-Century Emilia from Credem Art Collections.
