Milan Design Week
Milan Design Week
From April 7 to 13, 2025, the Museo Bagatti Valsecchi opens its doors to contemporary design for the Milano Design Week, hosting a selection of projects and installations that engage with the historic spaces of the house museum, accessible with extended hours and free admission.
One of the highlights of this edition is the Pier Fausto armchair, a Savonarola-style chair reinterpreted in a contemporary key by Marta Sala Éditions and the Lazzarini & Pickering studio. Dedicated to Pier Fausto Bagatti Valsecchi, architect and founder of the Museum, this creation pays tribute to his vision, blending tradition and innovation. Made of bronzed iron and upholstered in garnet-red fabric, the chair evokes the Renaissance inspirations cherished by the Bagatti Valsecchi brothers, reinterpreted through a modern design language. A portion of the sales proceeds will support the fundraising campaign Illumina il Museo.
The Museum’s exhibition path will also feature other projects that explore the relationship between design, craftsmanship, and experimentation.
The Secret Soul of Useful Things, curated by Federica Sala, celebrates ten years of Marta Sala Éditions with a selection of iconic pieces, the result of prestigious collaborations with internationally renowned designers and studios. Artist and architect Giovanna Ferrero Ventimiglia presents Piccoli smalti, a collection that merges the charm of cloisonné enamel with research into forms and materials. Riant Collection highlights the excellence of textile and ceramic craftsmanship, showcasing the value of traditional techniques applied to contemporary design. The installation A Secret Place by Lorenzo Palmeri weaves together past, present, and future in a dialogue between material, history, and primal elements, featuring four objects by OTTA Nice Things, designed by Federica Andreoli, Martini e Dall’Agnol, Brian Sironi, and Lorenzo Palmeri, who also designed the new glass bottle duo for Acqua Chiarella.
Throughout the week, the Museum will also host DesignMind, the nomadic design school conceived by Lorenzo Palmeri, a dynamic laboratory where students, professionals, and companies will engage in discussions on innovation in relation to historical and artistic heritage.
For the duration of Milano Design Week, the Museum will be open with extended hours and free admission, offering visitors the opportunity to explore the dialogue between contemporary design and the historic setting of the house museum.
