Mirabilia
Known by the German term Wunderkammer, the Chambers of Wonders were splendid collections of natural history specimens, instruments, mechanical inventions, geographical maps, archaeological rarities, coins, cameos and more, used for educational purposes as well as a means of universal scientific inquiry.
From the discovery of the most curious examples preserved in the Bagatti Valsecchi collection, we will move on to an in-depth look at some of the most unique Wunderkammers designed to collect rare or bizarre specimens of natural history and artifacts.
INFORMATION
Tea Talks. Conversazioni d'arte a Casa Bagatti Valsecchi is a series of seven talks, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., conceived to explore the museum's permanent collection in an original and engaging way and delve into fascinating art history topics.
Each appointment is accompanied by tea and pastries from the historic Cova Patisserie. The meetings are led by Aurora Ghezzi, art historian and collection manager of the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum, and Susanna Gualazzini, art historian and curator of the Biffi Arte Gallery in Piacenza.
