Facce da Blogger

100 most representative bloggers of the Italian web 2.0 era

Curated by Elena Datrino and Tiziano M. Todi

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the first exhibition, Museo Bagatti Valsecchi presents Facce da Blogger: a project by photographer Elena Datrino, curated by Tiziano M. Todi, dedicated to the 100 most representative bloggers of the Italian web 2.0 era, photographed between 2014 and 2020.

Inaugurated with the 2015 exhibition at Galleria Vittoria in Via Margutta in Rome, in which the faces of thirty bloggers were unveiled, over the past ten years the project has been exhibited in galleries and festivals all over Italy, each time being enriched with additional and unpublished portraits, with the intention of contributing a fresh look at the change taking place represented by the new protagonists of communication.

In 2023, on the occasion of the Milano Photofestival, photographs of all 100 bloggers portrayed were exhibited at the Accursio Library in Milan. The same year saw the release of the eponymous volume Facce da Blogger, published by Gangemi Editore and edited by graphic designer Antonella Provasi, which was premiered at the National Gallery in Rome.

The book is a valuable document on the positive impact of the digital in our society and the cultural ferment brought by the figures of Bloggers in Italy, exploring contemporaneity through the most diverse topics and ways.

The project combines two worlds: the analog and the digital. Both the exhibition and the book are interactive: each photograph is accompanied by a QR code that links to the web page dedicated to the portrayed protagonist. Interactivity is at the heart of the project, creating a direct and concrete link between the public and the virtual reality with which we interact daily via smartphones and computers.

In the neo-Renaissance setting of the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum, 40 portraits dialogue with the permanent collection and the identity of the rooms of the house museum. Among the protagonist faces, some of the most well-known of the web: Salvatore Aranzulla, Stephanie Glitter, Dio (Alessandro Paolucci), La McMusa (Marta Ciccolari Micaldi), Lorenzo Bises, Francesca Crescentini (Tegamini), I Trentennni and many others, representing the multiple facets of unique characters capable of giving voice to millions of people.
